Firing Temp 1140-1250°C

SP90

A mix of Stoneware fireclay and Etruria clay, SP90 is a good all-purpose body, suitable for throwing, handbuilding and casting. Fires to a warm toasted colour when oxidised.

Left hand side of pot is shown fired to 1250°C under oxidation - right side of pot has been glazed with GZ2214 Iron Reactive

Getting some really good results with this clay. Strong, yet not full of grog - soft to work with and takes a longer time to dry - so more opportunity for building or throwing.

I love this clay. It is soft to work with. I takes a long time to dry. I am so in love with its toasty colour. Its top temperature is around 1230 though. It bloats after that. I find it very sensitive that way.

Im looking for a clay that fires to a toasted colour in an electric kiln. would this be the one? I haven't been able to find a really warm colour yet. also does it have any texture or is it quite smooth?
