This glaze is lead free if it is food safe will depend on several factors including the clay body it is applied to, the thickness and the final firing temperature. Food safety tests are carried out by reputable firms like Lucideon.

Used this and is very nice but it is settling a lot and very quickly making it very difficult to use. Could dip one item and by the time I came to dip the next it had settled and became a very hard sludge, very hard to get re mixed. Any ideas on why it would do this or what can be done to prevent this.

If you are able to take a little water off the top to thicken up this will help. Also the addition of calcium chloride will help prevent from settling so quickly, here is the link: https://www.scarva.com/en/Scarva-Raw-Materials-Calcium-Chloride-RM1016/m-114.aspx

What’s the rough water to glaze powder ratio for this please?

Hi there, we recommend starting with 750ml of water per 1Kg and then adjust to the consistency of thin pouring cream. You want the glaze to coat a finger dipped in the mixture. Hope this helps.
