AMACO V318 - Rose From £7.87
AMACO Velvet underglazes if left unglazed they have the appearance of velvet. They will intensify in colour when covered with a Clear Transparent or Gloss glaze.
The Velvets are very rich colours and can be used for an all over coverage. They fire true to colour when applied from the jar and may be intermixed to create a palette of hundreds of colours.
The colours may be brushed on greenware which is to be bisque fired before applying a covering glaze or on bisqueware, then a covering glaze applied. For opaque coverage by brushing, the consistency of the colour in the jar is correct.
Velvets have a wide firing range 1040°C - 1220°C, they are also Lead Free.

I used this underglaze and the Amaco V316 - light pink together on leather hard buff stoneware, bisque fired and glazed with a reliable translucent glaze, and out of 17 mugs that I made only 2 of them are even close to passable. The rest have an awful rough sandpaper texture ONLY where the underglaze is, and there are pinholes everywhere so completely unusable. Where the underglaze isn’t present the translucent glaze has worked perfectly, and where I used another brand of black underglaze on other parts it is also completely fine. Very disappointed in this brand.
