AMACO Velvet underglazes if left unglazed they have the appearance of velvet. They will intensify in colour when covered with a Clear Transparent or Gloss glaze.
The Velvets are very rich colours and can be used for an all over coverage. They fire true to colour when applied from the jar and may be intermixed to create a palette of hundreds of colours.
The colours may be brushed on greenware which is to be bisque fired before applying a covering glaze or on bisqueware, then a covering glaze applied. For opaque coverage by brushing, the consistency of the colour in the jar is correct.
Velvets have a wide firing range 1040°C - 1220°C, they are also Lead Free.

Would it be ok to fire this at 1250-1260?
Thanks
Sophie from United Kingdom
Hi there. White Velvet Underglaze is snow white colour that is bright and minty at cone 05, softens at cone 5, and becomes slight warmer, but maintains a clean white colour at cone 10. A clear glaze accentuates the underglaze at any temperature.
Hope this helps.

Can this be used on greenware and then bisque fired before finishing and firing again to cone 6
Karen from United Kingdom
Hi, yes that would work perfectly well. Hope this helps!

Can this be used on porcelain?
Jackie from United Kingdom
Hi there, yes AMACO velvet underglazes can be used on porcelain. Some stay true to colour at cone 10.
