I love this black Amaco underglaze. Three coats on the grittier clays after bisq firing gives a beautifully deep even black, matte and rich. A lighter watered down wash of it over porcelain can give soft greys. I've tested it on a stippled textured black clay and it gives a lovely organic dark earthy finish. Highly recommend this for a variety of different effects and I use it to mix in with other Amaco underglaze colours to change depths of colour etc. Stays pretty true to colour after firing.

I now heat the kiln to 1250°C for glaze firing and have had no problems with gas bubbles from this underglaze. It comes out a clear shiny black using high fire stoneware transparent glaze over. Really pleased with the results! 😍

This is a lovely black but of all the underglazes, this tends to cause my transparent stoneware glaze to bubble. Will a 1250°C glaze fire correct this? I've previously fired up to 1235°C
