A fantastic range of underglaze pens from the USA. The Axner range of underglaze pens come in a beautiful presentation case. These Underglaze Pens have been developed for cone 05 and 06 firings, however most of the colors do quite well at much higher temperatures. The Axner underglaze pens are beautifully simple devices and are inherently easy to use. They come with 4 different sized metal tips - bold, medium, fine and extra fine. The tips are kept clean and open by use of metal pins which are also provided. When you first receive your underglaze pens we advise that you shake the product thoroughly in order to ensure the product is an even consistency throughout the bottle. If your pen sits for any length of time you may need to repeat this process. When using the Axner Underglaze Pen you should maintain a small amount of pressure on the bottle as you move the tip across the surface. Once underglaze has been applied you can still manipulate it on the clay surface, either with your finger or any suitable tool. This manipulation can allow you to create both sharp, defined lines as well as soft shaded areas. In short these pens can allow your decorating process to be similar to chalk, paint or pastel processes allowing a greater freedom in the work being produced.

Cone 06 - 04 (1000-1060C): All colors remain strong and vibrant Cone 6 (1240C): Most colors remain strong and vibrant. Exceptions: Chartreuse, Light Yellow, Pink, Lilac, and Light Pink are weak. Greens, Peach Sun, and Purple Maroon change color somewhat. Cone 10 (1305C): Same as cone 6 with the following exceptions: Chartreuse, Lilac, Pink, Peach, and Light Pink will completely burn out.
