9053 Light Brown Engobe

Botz Engobes are easy to use:  even young children can work with brush on engobes.  Apply to leatherhard or biscuit fired clay.  Brush on engobes are ideal for traditional engobe painting with the slip trailer.  The patterns created with it form a high relief on the clay surface.

You can also use Botz engobes like casting slip and pour them into plaster moulds, let them dry and fire to 1050°C.

Marble with Botz engobes: Thin the engobes then drip onto the surface and let them flow into each other, glaze transparent after bisque firing if desired.

To obtain an earthy matt surface, you can leave the engobe unglazed after biscuit firing.  Or glaze over with transparent and fire to 1050°C.

  • Apply 2-3 times with a brush on leatherhard, dried, unfired or biscuit fired clay
  • Without overglazing engobes become earthy matt
  • Bright colour intensity when overglazed thinly with 9106 Transparent
  • Well suited e. g. for marbling technique: use slightly diluted on soaked biscuit fired or leatherhard clay
  • Perfect also for Sgraffito technique
  • Can be mixed with glaze 9450 (30% Engobe, 70% Glaze) for a silky matt surface with tiny black dots (apply 3 times)
  • Can be used as pourable clay for small objects
