Does the plaster that you use for castings need to go in a kiln?

No, this is a plaster mould used to create cast objects. You pour liquid clay known as casting slip into the mould this will create your form in this case a cup.
This clay object is then fired in the kiln and the plaster mould can be used in the same process repeatedly.

Are the measurements the fired end product?

Hi, the measurements are the mould size - the final size would have too many variables such as clay shrinkage, firing temp etc. Hope this helps
