The UK's No.1 Pottery Supplier

Calcium Borate source used with other frits at cone 06 to 01. Raw materials are weighed, melted together and ground to produce a powdered glass. Frits are storehouses of oxides which are both stable and predictable.

They are more dependable in chemical composition than many raw materials. Using a frit as part of a glaze gives more consistent results and the batch recipe will be considerably simplified. We stock the best and most widely used American Ferro Frits.

I use this frit for making a clear glaze (firing to 1100 degrees c) It does a great job. I do have trouble finding a supplier in France locally (and not so local). I am very pleased that Scarva stocks this and will be buying again from them. Ordering is straight forward and communication superb. Many thanks.

Very good
...and I'm very pleased that it's possible to buy "american raw materials" in Europe without customs charge. And very fast delivery! :-)

Is this frit at all soluble in water? The reason I ask is that I've had problems with crystals forming in glazes made with calcium borate frit ( not supplied by you!) when stored for any time. I need to make larger quantities of glaze without any unused glaze being spoiled by crystal formation. I'd be most grateful if you can advise. Many thanks.

The Ferro Frit 3134 should work better but I cannot guarantee that crystals will not grow as sometimes combinations of other raw materials can cause crystal growth as well.
