The Rohde KE-S kiln series consists of nine modes with kiln sizes between 100 and 1000 litres in a classic construction with heating elements mounted on support rods. 
5 sided heating provides for an even heat distribution in every range of performance.

This KE-S kiln series has been designed for hard and long lasting application in professional workshops but is also suitable for daily use in schools and home studios. This design combines a maximum of robustness and persistence with a highest possible efficiency. The insulation consists of four layers, using only high quality, reduction resistant firebricks in the firing chamber. For the back insulation, Rohde count on state-of-the-art insulating materials which makes these kilns particularly energy efficient.

Of course Rohde have incorporated the unique features of all their front loading kilns into this series. The entire steel construction, for example, is equipped with an in frame ventilation made from stainless steel sheets. They also apply the Rohde System ceiling construction, tried and tested for more than 15 years.

How Does Zone Control Work

Zone Control kilns have a thermocouple in each section of the kiln and cycle the power to each section on and off semi-independently as if it were an individual kiln. When you have have a 3 section kiln and the bottom section is firing a little cooler than the middle and and top section. With zone control turned on, the controller will turn off power to the middle and top sections until the bottom section has caught up and then turn the power to all 3 sections back on. This ensures that the temperature difference between the sections never gets too great.

Zone Control cannot be added later as it requires the changing of several internal compenents most notable because the kiln needs to have a minimum power rating known as 'the loss to watt ratio' in order for the kiln to keep up with the program when sections are turned off to balance the temperature.

Rohde Exhaust aiir hoods for electric frontloaders KE and ELS ranges

The robust stainless steel exhaust air hoolds cover the entire ceiling area of the frontloader absorbing exhaust air from the kiln.  The ROHDE in-frame  ventilated side walls direct the heat produced inside the kiln into the ceiling area.  The exhaust air hood then absorbs and discharges it through a connected tube.  

 

Exhaust air hoods can be connected to other pipes using a standardised socket.  This should be done by a company specialising in ventilation and chimney systems.

 

Construction properties are perfectly matched to ROHDE Frontloaders allowing optimum removal of exhaust air, e.g. for Paperclay applications.
