Hello
I am wondering if this glaze would be suitable for additions of stains or oxides?
Thank you

It is not ideal for colour as the frits in this glaze react badly and cause them to change or disappear completely. Our GZ2108 Transparent is better suited for stain addition, hope this helps.

I’m going to brush on this glaze over red terra-cotta/ white slip. How many thin coats do I need to apply? I’m firing a ceramic plaque, lying flat in the kiln. Much appreciated thank you.

2 thin coats should work well.

Is this glaze okay when fired in reduction?
Scarva Replies:

Reduction firings are usually high firing 1200oC plus, this is an earthenware glaze so unlikely to work at all.

My current powder transparent glaze flakes off the rims of earthenware bowls, pots I make. It is only the rims that flake off. I'm looking to change the glaze I use and wondered if you can recommend a transparent leadless glaze that might be suitable. thank you

Can you tell me which clay body you use?
