Hi, how does this glaze compare to Scarva GZ2150 Zinc Free. I am using stains to colour clay and also want to add stain to the glaze. I thought the zinc-free would be best for colour clarity, especially for greens, but read in the Q&A for the GZ2150 that it was not good with Chrome-Tin stain and to use GZ2136 instead? Can you kindly let me know which is best for my purposes. Is this one zinc free as well? Many thanks for your help.

I would recommend using the GZ2136 it will give better colour promotion for all colours including lilacs and pinks.

Hi, could you advise me how thick this glaze should be? Do you guidelines like Aräometer readings?
Can this glaze be applied thinly? I would appreciate any helpful information.
Thanks
Scarva Replies:

Transparent glaze tends to give the best results when applied thinly ideally around 1mm thick. We do not have any hydrometer readings sorry. Hope this helps.

Is this glaze suitable for use on midfire porcelain? How does it compare to GZ2305? Is GZ2305 a lower expansion glaze?
Scarva Replies:
|
The GZ2150 or GZ2305 would be better suited for porcelain compared to this glaze.

Hi - how stable is this glaze? I want to mix with stains and use to paint on without the colours running into each other. Also, would it layer well with GZ2150 if I used that for non pinks and purples? Thanks
Scarva Replies:
|
Hi there. This is a stable glaze. It would layer with GZ2150 yes, but you could you GZ2136 for all colours no problem.

Hi
I want to add stains to make this into coloured glaze to fire at 1260. How much stain should I add please and do I also need to add a flux ?
Scarva Replies:
|
Hi, it depends on the colour you are looking to achieve. A good place to start would be 6-10% stain addition, stronger colours require a lower percentage. Our Nano Colour Stains come with suggested percentage additions. Hope this helps!
