If a glaze is food safe or not depends on several factors including the type of clay used, the firing temperature, the shape of the vessel, the thickness of glaze even the position of the vessel in the kiln can have an effect. Ideally a food safe test would be carried out by a reputable body like Lucideon. In the case of the glaze mentioned it would most likely pass a food safe test providing it was fired on a suitable body like our ES5 Original in an electric kiln and to the recommended firing temperatures.

Hello – to make this up as a brushing glaze, can I use water and universal medium, or do I need to buy Glaze Medium, which is what the label on the bag says to use?
If the latter, it would be very helpful to have that highlighted on the product page so customers know to order both at the same time!
Thanks so much

Yes to make a bush on glaze use our RM1072 Glaze medium.

Hi
Would this glaze work well with the st Patrick’s ishowen speckled clay to have the reaction?

Hi - the image on the Inishowen Speckle product page shows this glaze on the right hand side of the pot. It really highlights the specks in that particular body.
Hope this helps!

Hello, Ive not had much luck with the GZ2161 low expansion tin white glaze on the Professional PF680 Black clay. Ive had lots of bubbling, could this be an alternative option?

Hi, we've developed a transparent specifically for our black clay, you can find this here https://www.scarva.com/en/Scarva-GZ2170-Black-Clay-Transparent/m-9951.aspx
It's a transparent but also can be a carrier for colour, if you were to add 9-10% Tin Oxide this should give you a better result. Like everything in ceramics I'd suggest testing this to be sure you're happy before comitting to final pieces! Hope this helps!
