I’ve been using this clay to throw with for over a year now and I love it. It’s very smooth. I also use it to mix with Nano stains for coloured slip and so far the colours seem true. It turns really well and burnishes really well too. I fire it to 1260 in an electric kiln and it comes out a little bit darker than ES10. A nice toasted finish with the faintest speckle. I have yet to throw anything large with it but I’m not sure it’ll hold up for a big salad bowl. I rolled it out to 5/6mm for a tile and it warped a lot, which is what I wanted but doesn’t bode well for a large thrown piece. Still, a nice clay at a great price.

Lovely clay
I tried a bag of this as practice throwing clay. I usually hand build but have recently acquired a wheel. It's great clay. Forgiving to throw, smooth, can be fired using earthenware or stoneware or really any glaze. I've even burnished it up and raku fired it. It's my new favourite.

My go to clay
This clay is a good all rounder both both throwing and hand building. Smaller thrown items seem more successful than larger ones and the shrinkage rate always catches me out if I’m aiming for a larger mug, for example.

New favourite clay!
KGM body is a lovely smooth clay to thrown with. I tried this clay as it was recommended to me that it would vitrify at a cone 6. After doing my own test bar test I can confirm it does indeed vitrify at a cone 6 so perfect for functional work.

My go to clay.
A very good all round clay. Nice throwing properties, but can shrink a little more than expected. I also hand build with it and it’s easy to handle. Fires a bright white at bisque and a creamy colour at cone 5.

Too wet - unworkable!!!
My latest batch of KGM (Jan 2023) is the wettest clay I've ever received. It is completely different consistency to previous KGM I have bought from Scarva. It appears flat and flobby in the black bags - not the oblong brick shape I am used to. Frustratingly I can't work with it straight from the bag - I cannot wedge it - it simply sticks all over my ply worktop. I have to cut bits off the block and leave them for 2-3 days until they have shed enough moisture to work with. This is really disappointing and inconvenient. Maybe I got a bad batch but don't recommend this product at this time.
