I used this glaze on Audrey Blackman Porcelain at cone 6. The glaze crawled, pinholed and failed to crackle evenly. The colour lacked the sea green nature that the title suggests and was shown in the picture. I have had good glazes from Scarva before but this is not one of them.
I was looking so forward to the subtlety of the colour, the sheen and the crackle as evident in your image. However, glazing to 1240C , the finished glaze is gritty, has no sheen and even after 48 hours, an almost non- existent crackle.
Another new addition to the Scarva catalgoue is the beautiful range of Porcelain Crackle Glazes. These glazes were delveloped in the Scarva lab after ever increasing demand for crackle glazes especially for Porcelain bodies. They are available in both powder and brush-on and we recommend 2-3 coats. After firing the crackle should be given time to develop, usually around 48 hours is a good estimate. To further enhance the crackle, Indian ink or very strong tea can be applied over the glaze to highlight the crazing. Please be aware that due to the nature of crackle glazes they are not suitable for use on dinnerware.
