SCARVA Nano Underglazes are manufactured using a high percentage of stain and with a frit base rather than a slip (clay) base. This means they can be applied onto greenware or bisque. Nano Underglazes have the appearance of silk if left unglazed or will intensify in colour when covered with a clear transparent or gloss glaze. Nano Underglazes are ideal for screen-printing applications. All our Nano Underglazes are intermixable so why not get creative and experiment by missing your own completely new colour. • Cost effective • 15 Vivid colours • High firing • Lead Free • All colours are intermixable • Wide firing range 1000-1300°C+ mix one part powder glaze to one part underglaze medium and adjust with water if necessary

What is the difference between an underglaze and a stain? How do you mix up an underglaze if i buy it in a powder form?
karen from Ireland
A stain is raw colour which can be mixed with a glaze, clay body or turned into an underglaze with the addition of a flux or melter. The underglaze powder is ready made and will adhere better to work once fired. To make it brush able simply mix 50/50 with RM1074 Underglaxe Medium, hope this helps.
