I'm thinking of trying wax sculpting for miniatures...I actually normally work in ceramics but find it hard sculpting in clay on such a small scale and getting crisp detail. I was thinking wax would give me the detail and I could then make a mold from the wax sculpture with something like siligum (2 part silicone), would this wax be applicable for this kinda thing, and if so, would I need any special tools besides general sculpting tools? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

This particular wax would not be suitable as it has to be heated and poured but you could use, brown, white or terracotta modelling wax instead. Hope this helps.

Hi, is this wax soft enough to model by hand without tools?

No it is very hard casting wax, you would be best choosing the white, brown or terracotta wax for modelling.

The resin separated when I heated the wax ( a gunge on the bottom of the container) - can I re incorporate it and if so how?
Am I heating to much? I am using a beauticians wax bath to heat it in.
Thanks in advance

The melting temperature of this wax is quite low just 52oC, do you know what temperature the wax bath went to? It may have gone to high that is why it separated.
