Botz 9541 Glossy gold From  £11.01

Beautiful and inexpensive for such a finish. Provides a surface that is slightly reflective. Good flow when heated to temperature. Cheaper than a gold lustre but works just as well. Look good when allowed to flow into other glazes. Needs at least two coats. Could be used on a variety of pieces.

This worked well on my small test tile but wasn't so good on larger areas. I think it might need to have more coats to get the effect, at least three, but when it works the effect is very pleasant, not as shiny as the sample but works well with dark colours.

This colour of this glaze is really good. It has a tendency to run if you apply it too thickly, so take care!

Came out really shiny but more pewter than gold, needs a good stir and a few good coats, really great finish, hopefully with more testing I can get it to come out more gold

Gold - Turns out a rather antique gold, good coverage and glaze.

Fired to the recommended temp but I can't seem tu get the right finish. I don't hate it but it's more blue than gold

I tried a test tile on ordinary earthenware clay, fired to correct temperature but it has come out a very dark brown almost black! Do not understand why so very disappointed unfortunately.

Can be a bit runny at highest recommended temperature!

I recently brushed on 3 layers of the Glossy Gold on a porcelain and fired to 1050c, the result was very disappoinnting as it was far from the photo shown on the web. No gold just strong kind of brown.

SCARVA Response: Thank you for your review, it sounds like it may have been slightly overfired 1050oC on the controller combined with workheat will raise the temperature inside the kiln to around 1070oC also on porcelain clay this will make it melt even further, I would suggest trying a different clay body and lowering the temperature slightly to around 1030oC, hope this helps.

I tried layering and different temperatures and could not get anywhere close to gold, don’t buy this it’s terrible. Waste of money and ruined my pieces

Did not come out gold at all even after several attempts I'm very disappointed as I sent money on three different pots and none of them worked.

I can't get this glaze to look like gold. I'll keep trying!!
