Hello -
If I (manage to) use decorating slip to stamp a small logo onto the bottom of my greenware pots before bisque firing:
a) will it mark the kiln shelves?
b) if I nest pots within each other to bisque, will the bottom of one mark the inside of the other?
Thanks very much!
Polly

It should not mark it however if they rub together as the slip is quite soft before firing so may transfer, it should not leave a mark on the shelf, like most things in ceramics it is hard to predict what may happen until you fire it in your kiln under your conditions but I think there is a good chance you should not have any issues, hope this helps.

Hello, can I use these on the bottoms of cups, leatherhard stage (the bottom will be touching the kiln shelf) or will it stick to the shelf when fired? Thanks!
Respuestas de Scarva:
|
It should be okay, it depends on the clay body it is on as well so porcelain may melt a little more. it may not stick to the shelf but if there was any residue on the kiln shelves it may become embedded in the bottom.

This slip reacts beautifully with a basic white glaze to create a volcanic effect. What is the ingredient which would cause this reaction?
Respuestas de Scarva:
|
It may be caused by a number of elements including oxides but the glaze base may play a role to in the reaction.
