ES20
Firing Temperature 1180°C - 1300°C

ES20 Earthstone Smooth Textured White is a particularly versatile clay which matures between 1180-1300°C. ES20 fires white making it ideal for colour decoration and a great base for coloured glazes. ES20’s low shrinkage means that it is highly resistant to warping, cracking and thermal shock. Earthstone Smooth Textured body is particularly suited to throwing large pieces. It is also excellent for handbuilding, slab building and coiling.

Good all-rounder
Was having a bit of difficulty throwing ES5 and was looking for something with a bit more body for throwing but that could also be used for hand-building and Scarva recommended trying this. It was exactly what I hoped for. Its not quite as white on firing as the ES5 but takes glazes well and has very little shrinkage (fired to 1240C). This will be my go-to stoneware clay from now on (or until I get good enough that I can go back to ES5).
