Hi there,
This will be ready to fire after a few hours. I would suggest firing slowly on the first firing to stop any excess moisture content from boiling out. 60°C per hour should be fine. After 300°C you can ramp up a little faster.

I purchased some of this white kiln cement
I have put some in my furnace and heated it to 250C.It has gone a grey colour !!
Do i have to heat higher to make it white ?

Hi.
Would this product be suitable for repairing deep holes in bricks (25mm).
If so would it need to be put on in layers and allowed to dry before putting another layer on.

Hi,
If you add Molochite 30s - 80s, 60s or 80s in to the mixture 50/50 you will not need to apply it in layers as it will account for the shrinkage.

Hi, yes this should be fine for your application. Apply and allow to dry for a few days before lighting the fire again as drying too quickly may lead to cracking the cement.

Hi, In the past I've used this, as recommended, to attach fiber glass insulation to my kiln door edge very successfully.
Could I also use it to fill in the rusty bits on the kilns surface, esp at the edges?
If not is there anything I can do to help the spread of the rust and fill any gaps?? Thanks

To help prevent rust which is increasingly hard as the kiln gets older you would be best treating it with an anti rust paint or sealer you will be able to get one of these from a good hardware store. It will help to an extent and prolong the life of the kiln but due to the high temperature and exposure to moisture the rust will persist.

This cement is used for the repair of kilns I think there are better materials on the market for your application. I would suggest going to a good hardware store and asking their advice on a suitable product. Hope this helps.

I noticed a couple of cracks in the kiln bricks in my electric kiln. Is this the correct product to repair? Also, there are some gaps between bricks - would it be a good idea to fill them?

Cracks in kiln bricks are very normal and nothing to worry about providing the brick is held in place and not loose. The cracks are caused by the contraction between hot and cold, these cracks and gaps will expand and close as the kiln heats up so it is important to leave them alone. I would only recommend using the kiln cement to repair broken bits of brickwork or if brickwork was loose or damaged.

High temperature kiln cement comes in ready made liquid paste form. General purpose air setting cement use to join bricks, fibre, kiln repairs or fill in cracks.
