I used 5 different Scarva Parian casting slips to make mugs: 2 layers of contrasting slip per mug, and glazed the interior with Scarva GZ2150 transparent glaze, fired to cone 6.
The Parian clay fired beautifully. But all of my 4 mugs broke into pieces. Was it wrong to glaze the inside?

I believe because only the inside of the mugs were glazed the glaze has caused the pieces to break due to the coefficient of expansion between the glaze and clay. If you are able to even glaze a little of the outside just the rim for example this should be enough to act as a force between the inside and hopefully you will not have any issues with cracking and breaking.

Hello, I need a final product to be a specific size and wanted to know how big the master shape should be.
What is the total shrinkage from wet cast to fired at 1240c?
Is this same throughout all Nano Parian range?
As well, what gloss or satin clear glaze would you recommend to use with Nano Parian range?
Many thanks in advance for your answers!
Kind regards,
Justas

Hi,
We have measured the srinkage in our tests to be 15.3% however it would be beneficial to do your own test in your own kiln to get a figure based on your firing conditions.
Hope this helps!
