Can I use this successfully on stoneware over a clear stoneware glaze?

Hi,
Not really, you will find it very difficult to get the glaze to adhere to the already glazed ware. Doing a high bisque firing to a point where the body is still slightly porous and glazing with 5116 fired to earthenware is your best bet.
Hope this helps!

Hi, we would suggest you avoid earthenware metallic glazes for dinnerware

What is meant by 30 minute soak please? Do you actually soak your clay body for 40 minutes before glazing?
Thanks!

Hi, a soak is a term used in ceramics for holding at a particular temperature for a duration of time. In this example the firing program would be held at 1040°C for 30 minutes. Hope this helps

Hi,
I just asked a question about the metallic scultural glazes and then found this. Which one would be best for school use (earthenware)?
Also, can I dip clear glaze over the top of any of them and still keep the gold effect?
Many thanks.

I would recommend using 5116 Metallic Gold or 9541 Glossy Gold. They come ready to use from the jar and are used widely in schools and colleges. For the best results I would not apply a transparent on top as it could get quite messy simply stir the glaze well then apply 2-3 coats on your piece.
