The Story Of The "Bigfish"
Synonymous with the Belfast waterfront, the "Bigfish" was commissioned in 1999 to celebrate the regeneration of the River Lagan. Artist John Kindness needed a clay suitable to create his now iconic vision. At the time no such clay existed to allow John to produce the large architectural pieces required for such a complex installation.

John turned to his old college friend and founder of Scarva Pottery, David in the hope he could help him in developing a clay body that could withstand the rigours of producing such demanding work.

What resulted was Scarva Earthstone ES70 Architectural Body Clay and today is used by architectural ceramicists throughout the world...
