Scarva Earthstone ES10 Extra Smooth White Clay £15.18
Firing Temperature 1160-1280°C
A highly versatile fine white body with a broad range of applications. ES10 Extra Smooth White matures between 1160°C - 1280°C. This unusually wide firing range means ES10 can be high bisque fired to 1160°C for low temperature earthenware glazes, or bisque fired to 1000°C for mid temperature and stoneware glazes. It throws, models and casts extremely well and takes sprigged or stamped decoration. ES10 Extra Smooth White is also available as a ready made casting slip.

This is a wonderful clay. I use it a lot. The wide firing range means I can use mid range glazes or cone 6, making it very versatile. It's also very white when fired and great to use with very detailed stamps.

Very nice for use when mold making. Very smooth. I haven't fired it though so can't pass judgement on that.

I want to use low temp (1100) glazes with this clay and followed advice I saw to bisque to 1160 but my sprayed glazes didn't settle as the body wasn't porous enough. What do you recommend is the highest bisque temp I should try for spraying glazes? How will firing at 60C lower than the maturing temp affect the clay? thanks
