Hi
What is the mix ratio with water for this product? Also how well will this fire over underglaze (applied at greenware stage) at 1240?
Cheers

Mix approximately 700-800mls of water to 1000grams of powder, then pass through a fine mesh sieve, adjust if necessary. This glaze is opaque so if you apply onto of an underglaze you may not see the colour very well underneath. It is also important to do a bisque fire before applying any glaze to get the best results. Hope this helps.

Hello,
Could you please tell me, is this glaze food safe?
Many thanks,
Zoe
Réponses de Scarva:

f a glaze is food safe our not depends on several factors including the type of clay used, the firing temperature, the shape of the vessel, the thickness of glaze even the position of the vessel in the kiln can have an effect on the glaze. Ideally a food safe test would be carried out by a reputable body like British Ceram. In the case of the glaze mentioned it would most likely pass a food safe test providing it was fired on a suitable body like our ES5 Earthstone Original in an electric kiln and to the suggested firing temperature

Hi, the information says this glaze works well with stains but does it work over oxides? I want to achieve a greeny-turquoise matt colour and have done this before using black copper oxide with a "dry white" glaze. Will it work with this or do I need a lead based matt white glaze? Thank you.
Réponses de Scarva:
|
Yes you can use this as a base to add oxides.

Can I use on leatherhard low shrinkage clay?
Réponses de Scarva:

I would not recommend using this on green unfired clay, for the best results apply to bisqueware. As long as the clay body has a high maturing temperature around 1260oC it should work fine.

Can I add coloured stain to this to change the colour or will it affect the glaze
Réponses de Scarva:
|
Yes you can add stain to this glaze because it is white this may dilute the colour so if you add a red stain for example it may fire more pink in tone.

How can I make this glaze more cream than white? Do you have a cream white glaze?
Réponses de Scarva:

Hi, you could experiment by adding a small percentage of yellow stain to achieve a more creamy appearance. Hope this helps!
