Bought this clay in two batches. The first batch that arrived fired a biscuit buff colour and the second batch fires a very dark maroon/red colour. Both bisque fired to 1000 and then to 1250c. The vast colour range makes it difficult to make consistent pieces. I made the mistake of using the first batch I bought for the body of the mugs and used a second batch for the handles. Made for a very funky looking mug after firing!
This clay was lovely to throw and held its form.
Bisque firing produced a warm terracotta finish.
But I would recommend no more than cone 5 for the final firing, as at cone 6, that clay began to lose shape and darken unevenly. Amaco SMUG underglazes faded out and Amaco PC glazes left an unpleasant darker rim where the glaze ended.
