Hiya. How often would I paint it onto the shelves? Is it every glazed firing?
Thanks

Bat wash is applied to new kiln shelves around three coats each in the opposite direction to the last. This will be permanent and there is no need to apply each time. If the shelves get damaged with glaze runs or pools remove the drips and apply top up coats of bat wash as required. Hope this helps.

How much batt wash do I need to do my shelves etc for my kiln for its first firing. It recommends 3 coats . I have a top loading Rhode kiln.

Hard to estimate but the smallest quantity of 1 kilo should be enough to do several kiln shelves.

Does this work the same as Alumina Hydrate RM1002 ?

Hi there, with batt wash you add water and brush onto the shelves. Alumina hydrate is just used in its powder form. We use Alumina Hydrate Granular RM1002G.

Hello,
Have you a recommended water/powder ratio to mix your batt wash, please?
Thank you.

Mix approximately 600-700mls of water to 1000grams of powder this should give a nice creamy consistency. Hope this helps.
