I find this very versatile

I can throw large pots with it, as it’s pretty forgiving on the wheel - it stays put with less wobble - or rather if you get a wobble, it still stays out! Then I find I can add sculptural relief to the surface. I’ve had some success creating the relief on a clean clay cloth and wiring it off before it’s leather dry, to be applied to a nearly leather dry, turned piece. It’s easy to reset surface and apply using a little slip or wet putty

It is of course expensive so saved for these special things

May be a bit early for me to be reviewing it as I worked with it for the first time today, but I love the feel - smooth and silky - and how thin I can get it without it seeming to lose strength. My project is going to take a few weeks so looking forward to seeing how white it comes out of the kiln. I'm hoping for a porcelain effect with out the grief!

I work in figurative forms, I find that the flexibility and robustness of Scarva's flax paper clay very fit for propose, working large or small. The only niggle i would have with it is the wetness of it when first opened. However, I find setting what you need to work with on the plaster bat for a short period solves the problem.

I ordered this clay for two students who enjoy sculptural work. They found it easy to achieve good results and were particularly pleased that they could push the boundaries a bit further with this product than they could with other more conventional clays.
Will order more soon.

A really good clay for hand building. For someone like myself with limited skills the ability to modify when leather hard and to fettle again once bisque fired is a real positive. I look forward to exploring its sculptural possibilities.

A great product. I used it this week end to start my grand children on course to become potters! It withstands the handling of a 7 year old and transport of the ware in a plastic bag in the car whilst not even leather hard.

I have used porcelain paper clay in my work for a number of years but this is the first time have I have used earthenware paperclay. I have been handbuilding onto slipcast spheres - has done the job brilliantly.
