Wax Crayons are available in 10 vivid colours and 4 oxides. Wax crayons are dust-free.

All colours are available in either earthenware (1000 - 1150°C) or stoneware (1150 - 1280°C). The earthenware crayons can be used at stoneware temperatures, but the colours will fade slightly. The stoneware crayons cannot be fired at a low temperature as the colours will not adhere to the vessel.

Wax crayons are a great way to create unique effects by themselves or combining with underglazes and glazes.

I bought it expecting it to be more on the blackish side. I fire to cone 8-9, over Limoges porcelain, under a clear zinc glaze,and it gave me a brown color (like manganese). I guess the results vary depending on the clay body you use, the temperature you fire, and glaze materials.

You say that earthenware crayons can be used at stoneware temperatures, but the colours will fade slightly and stoneware crayons CANNOT be fired at a low temperature as the colours will not adhere to the vessel. Does this mean that I cannot use a stoneware crayon on stoneware greenware (only bisqued)? So if I want to draw on stoneware greenware, I need to use an earthenware crayon and hope for the best in terms of colour? thanks.

Hi there, we recommend you use the crayons on bisque and use the temperature of crayon you are firing to.
