I use it on Scava porcelain paper clay at 1220°C and it gives a rich opaque black, even with just one coat. (At 1000°C it is grey).

With some testing I eventually managed to get a nice deep black colour, at 1140 and underneath a transparent glaze from a different supplier.

I used this with a Scarva white earthenware body and can't comment on any other clay.

I saw an actual fired sample of this at a supplier's warehouse, and even glazed it was grey. If as another reviewer suggests, it needs to be high fired to get a true black, it should say so on the container, instead of '1000 - 1300°C'.

Scarva should not misrepresent this slip as BLACK at a wide temperature range when it appears light to medium grey at earthenware temperatures.
