I own the Shimpo tabletop wheel and the Giffin Grip mini, for me, is a must have item. Let’s get one thing out the way - the price tag. Yes, it’s expensive, no denying. But… if you have the money to spend on it, then I believe a very worthwhile investment that will save hours and hours as well as make quite a frustrating task of centring to trim, a quick and painless one.
Really easy to fit, the giffin grip has two holes underside which you line up with the batt pins and then press the giffin down to secure. You rotate the grip anticlockwise (you can imagine you’re a DJ restarting a recording!), click one of the three sets of arms into the slots, place your item roughy in the middle then rotate the grip to the right (DJ, speed that record up). The arms will all move simultaneously and help guide the pot into the centre. Give the item a little wiggle and another little turn to the right if it needs it. Then click the blue button to secure and enjoy perfectly centred pots every time.
There are three sets of three arms. The different sets are different heights to allow you to work on different things, plates, bowls, cups etc.
It’s a great tool. I don’t regret purchasing for a second.
My Rohda 600 has 10 inch pins but this doesnt fit. Must be specific to a very narrow range of wheels. Would be much better if it specified which wheels it could be used on (there arent many on the market so this wouldnt be difficult). Also the build quality doesnt feel that good. Not sure how long it would last. This is going back.
