Good for throwing
As an intermediate thrower, this is the best clay I've found to work with so far, enabling me to throw bigger, thinner forms. The speckle is subtle, adding character to translucent glazes. Those I've tried so far fit well without crazing etc.

Fantastic for throwing!
Very forgiving clay. I have managed to bring wobbles that would normally have ruined work back to where I want it. Remarkable.
Happy customer.

Hi guys, Is this clay body suitable throwing functional tableware and firing with stoneware glaze? Also, is it microwave and dishwasher safe once fired to stoneware temperature? Thanks, Alex
Alex from United Kingdom
Yes this is and ideal clay for this.
Scarva Team
Hello, I've never used speckled clay before, but this clay looks too beautiful to not try. Does it require any particular type of firing and does the speckle come through the glaze? Thanks
Emily from United Kingdom
Just fire the clay as normal in the kiln, the speckle may show through it just depends on how opaque the glaze is.

Do you have any shrinkage information for this clay?
Susan from United Kingdom
Hi, In testing the shrinkage of this clay was approximately 13% at Stoneware. Hope this helps!

Hi there, what is the difference between this clay body and the ES90 Flecke Stoneware clay body? Which one would be better for throwing simple tableware? (I am a beginner/improver)
Alex from Ireland
Hi there, ES90 would be more suitable for throwing as it is more plastic.
Scarva Team
Hello, I was wondering if this clay contained any grog or is it completely smooth? Additionally, would you happen to know the shrinkage rate when fired? Thank you.
Emily from United Kingdom
This clay is completely smooth and contains no grog the shrinkage rate is approximately 12% at 1200oC.
