Is it best to add powder to water, or water to powder? I had a disaster with my last batch (3.5ltrs for a hand cast), where it turned instantly crumbly instead of the pourable syrup I was expecting, then stayed as a mess of wet crumbs that wouldn't dry/set properly.

Please find below instructions as requested:
Instructions:
1. Measure 1 part alginate to 3 parts water (eg 20g alginate / 60mls water)
2. Mix vigorously for 30-40 seconds
3. Pour over object to be moulded and leave to set for approx 4 minutes
Always do a small test before using the whole bag
Warm water will reduce setting time
Mixed alginate should be cast immediately
If using on your skin, test on a small area first to check for irritation or allergy.
Hope this helps.
