Scarva Earthstone Glacier Porcelain (Casting Slip)
Firing Temp 1280-1300°C
ES170 Whiteness, glass-like translucency and strength are qualities which attract many potters to porcelain. However, due to the very nature of the raw materials used in their production, most porcelain bodies have very little natural plasticity. In order to overcome this, many manufacturers add ball clay, thus sacrificing the translucency and whiteness. We have discovered that by using high quality, low iron-bearing china clays, silicas, bentonites and mineral fluxes, it is possible to produce a porcelain which is not only very white, but also translucent and very plastic. Scarva Earthstone Glacier Porcelain - probably the best porcelain body available.

Great casting slip
I'm totally in love with this slip. As the previous review says, it needs a bit of thinner, but I'm getting great results. It needs about 20 minutes before pouring out and I'm needing to leave the mould overnight before opening but I'd certainly recommend it

Nice icy quality.
The Glacier Porcelain was confidently recommended to me, however, I found it rather hard to cast with. It seemed too thick (regardless of advice I tried), making my pieces heavy and prone to cracking. In future, I would be inclined to use this in it's plastic state for hand building as it fires to a brilliant white and has a nice icy quality about it.
