9539 Gold Aventurine

BOTZ earthenware glazes are available ready to use in 200ml jars. Stir the glaze thoroughly and apply 2-3 coats. The glaze soon dries allowing the pots to be lifted into the kiln. For best results allow the glaze to dry for a day before firing.

Results will vary depending on thickness of glaze, clay applied, shape of vessel and final firing temperature.

The ideal firing temperature is around 1040°C with a 30 minute soak.

Glaze finish: Satin-glossy

  • Metallic effect precipitations on golden yellow ground
  • Increased formation crystals when applied as a thin coat

You mention a 30 minute soak - what do you mean by this? Also, is the glaze applied to bisque ware? Thanks
Carole from United Kingdom
Yes the glaze is applied to bisque ware. A soak or dwell is once you reach your final firing temperature in this case 1040°C, you hold the kiln there for a period of time usually between 20-30 minutes. This helps even out the temperature inside the kiln and give more consistent results. Hope this helps.
