Yes you could use this combined with other materials to create a slip alternatively a much easier option is to use ES130 White earthenware and turn into a slip.

I am planning on mixing up some glaze recipes and they just say ball clay in them. Which ball clay would you recommend I use?

You could use any of them as they will not affect the glaze much, it is only really important when mixing a clay recipe. The most popular is Hyplas 71 and is ideal for your purpose.
