Scarva Earthstone ES65 Terracotta Crank Clay
Terracotta Crank
ES65 Firing Temperature 1080°C - 1220°C ES65 Earthstone Terracotta Crank allows you to create large sculptural pieces. It is a beautifully textured, richly coloured, coarse grogged clay. ES65 Terracotta Crank is produced using a blend of Etruria Marls. This body has the excellent working properties of terracotta with the combined strength of a crank. The result is an exceptional body that is ideal for all types of handbuilding processes.

Love this clay!
I fired this clay up to 1250*C several times - no problem! It becomes this lovely rich dark brown. I use it for hand building pots. Great in contrast with white slip decoration. Could you please recomment a transparent satin finish (not glossy) glaze for this body? I've used Terracolour 604 matt translucent but find it too milky and very bubbly when put on too thick.

Hello, can this terracotta body be slow fired once to a higher bisque temperature if it’s to be unglazed?
Andrew from United Kingdom
Hi,
Yes this crank should fire to 1200°C without any problems!
Hope this helps!

Hello,
Is it possible to mix crank with smoother traditional clay in the same pièce. For exemple a figuré with textured crank for fabric and a smoother clay for face, hands etc.
Thanks
Becky from France
