The UK's No.1 Pottery Supplier

Indigo Float is an intensely blue glaze with a lighter blue surface float. This rich cobalt glaze breaks deep blue where thinner. Great for layering with other potters choice glazes!

Due to the powdered nature of the materials involved with the dry-mix dipping buckets of this product, their respective health information and labels differ from the brushing glazes.

Safety Warning

Tableware producers must test all finished ware to establish dinnerware status, due to possible variations in firing temperature and contamination.

Can this glaze be brushed on? Also how will it react to other potters choice glazes if they are layered or overlap for example?
Jacqui from United Kingdom
Hi! Yes, this is a brush on glaze - you can use Amaco's layering resource by copying and pasting the following link - https://www.amaco.com/glazes-and-underglazes/layering Hope this helps!

Why does my indigo float come out green?, I have tried making 3 coats and 5 coats and its still green. I am using potclay buff cone 6 clay and firing to cone 6 in a shared studio. Thanks
Ese from United Kingdom
Hi, I would suggest that the clay body is the issue. Buff clays have a higher iron content which can react with the chemistry in the glaze to form greens. I would suggest using a white stoneware body if you wish to get the true indigo colour. Hope this helps!
