Are pieces using this glaze still food safe when it crackles?

No a glaze that crackles will not be suitable for food. The glaze has to fit the clay body to be suitable for tableware.

What temperature settings should I use in an electric kiln to achieve the same result as the image. Also is it one dip or two , into dipping glaze? Thanks

Hi, to get the effect - one dip, and then another partial dip. 1180 with a 10 minute soak. Hope this helps.

Simply mix between 600 - 700mls of water to 1000grams of powder depending on glaze then pass through a sieve. Each glaze differs and may need more or less water, it is better to start of with less then add as needed. Glaze should have the consistency of cream with exception of transparent glazes which usually work best when applied thinly to bisqueware.
